The VL team has been busy backstage planning incredible looks for the runway, but since Fashion Week is always ahead of us, we have to reach back in time to conjure up the trends for Fall!

Our Director of National Artistry created the make up design for Wildfox’s Fall/Winter 2015 presentation, based upon Italian beauty icon Sophia Loren. Her signature dark winged liner and enhanced beauty mark were duplicated on each model. Recreate this fashion-relevant yet street-wearable look, for a sexy dolce vita vibe that exudes sophisticated style!

Begin by perfecting your complexion using Water Canvas Foundation in a shade that most closely matches your natural skin tone. Cover any blemishes and wipe away under eye circles with a touch of Creme Concealer and blend well for a smooth, seamless finish. A matte surface works best for this 1960’s inspired look, so try using Velour Pressed Powder to set. Keeps you free of shine, and the silky powder delivers a flawless, soft matte finish. For those of you who have naturally dry or combination skin, you may not require the additional coverage to achieve this effect. Just dust a little powder on key areas that tend to shine, like the nose and forehead.

To build a classic brow, see our instructions on How to Build an Arched Brow the Right Way and to completely modernize the look, check out this tutorial on producing glossy feathery brows.

A warm brown palette is on trend this season and was Sophia’s go-to color palette! Highlight, contour and define the eyes using the Baby Dome Palette in Terrachino. Richly pigmented, baked shadows features an expertly coordinated match up of multi-finish textures, with a versatile wet/dry formula. Two rich matte shades surround one shimmering hue, allowing for effortless color combos that easily transition from neutral to dramatic.

To communicate true dolce vita clout, draw on dramatically winged liner in an inky black hue. Vibrant Eye Liquid Liner in Nerino offers a glossy sheen and applies with a short fine brush that picks up just the right amount of product. Loren always defined her lower lash line and the outer corners of her eyes by connecting a soft liner to the winged liner. Apply a light application of Pro Waterproof Eyeliner in Ebony to the lower lash line, then blend and extend the line to link the upper and lower with a precision liner brush like the #11 Slanted Liner Brush. The professional grade creamy texture of these pencils delivers rich stay true, long lasting color.

Instead of a pink or peach shade, try a matte bronzer for a “just returned from holiday on the Riviera” look! Try La Riviera Matte Bronzer in Sunkissed applied with the #27 Deluxe Blush Brush and for a deeper bronze, use the Sundrenched shade instead. Formulated with the perfect balance of red and brown tones, VL’s newest bronzer creates the most natural color for season-to-season use.

The nude lip look with a deeper outline has made its way back through the style cycle and is back in fashion (for now)! Embrace the trend by applying Sheer Pigment Lipstick in Debue (a neutral peachy skin shade) onto the lips and then neatly and carefully lining (and slightly overlining) the lips using the Chocolate side from our Duo Lip Pencil in Chocolate/Naked. This double-sided pencil features two complementary shades that apply evenly to help reduce feathering.

Finish this classic look by either enhancing your favorite beauty mark, or by placing one that doesn’t currently exist, with the Vibrant Liquid Liner in Nerino. Select a space either over the lip or on the cheek and using the brush that comes in the lid component, dab it onto the skin to create a light “beauty mark.” Gently tap with a q-tip to soften if the edges are too harsh.
