How To Create An Amplified Cat Eye

Go big and bold with an exaggerated version of the classic original! Amplify the cat eye by making it thicker and extending into the tear duct area. A creamy vanilla champagne shimmer forms the neutral lid, while a deep metallic coloring within the crease provides all out drama!

Begin by applying our Pro-Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Ivory to build a base that lasts all night long (the eyeliner will allow any shadow to adhere with ease!). The creamy professional grade formula offers stay put, stay true color, that’s both gluten and paraben free! Blend gently on the lid with a #22 Large Eyeshadow Brush until the color is fully dispersed.

Dampen the #33 Flat Eyeshadow Brush dip it into Jewel 69, one of the lightest shades of VL’s Wet Diamond Eyeshadow. High-tech, light reflective pearls are baked into a soft, full-color formula that spreads a dazzling, diamond sheen over lids. When used wet, it goes on like a shimmering brilliant cream that wears beautifully hour after hour. Plus, a wet brush will pump up the level of shadow intensity, giving you richer, more rounded color! Be careful not to bring the color up past the crease line of your eyelids.

Again dampen your #33 Flat Eyeshadow Brush and now place Wet Diamond Eyeshadow in Metropolitan into the crease with an outward to inward motion. Don’t go too far past the center of the eye! Dark colors placed too close to the inner corners can decrease the overall appearance, making big eyes look smaller.

Since thus far this look has focused on super sparkly, dramatic shadow, we don’t want the rest of the eye to compete with those fabulous lids! Choose a loose powder matching your natural skin tone or a matte shadow and apply to the brow bone. This will balance things out as well as attract light to lift the brow. Try our Perfect Canvas Loose Powder in #4 Golden Oriental applied with a #33 Flat Eyeshadow Brush.

We are going for a very graphic winged liner that’s crazy thick, bold and extended into the tear duct, for a truly magnificent cat eye effect! Cream, gels and liquid eyeliners work best here, try Crème Gel Eyeliner in Blu Raven, a jet black enhanced with a subtle blue pearl finish to gives added depth and dimension without ever looking dull or flat!

Start from where your eyeliner would end and drag straight to the middle with a #11 Slanted Liner Brush. Fill in the wing by using gentle strokes closest to the last line, moving carefully into the inner corner. Continue to perfect the liner until you’ve reached your desired thickness. For the final touch, take your brush into the tear duct and bring out the eyeliner (following the natural shape of your eyes), connecting to both top lash line and bottom tear duct.

For the bottom lash line, apply Pro Waterproof Eyeliner in Aubergine. Don't worry if it's messy because it will be blended out! Now using a damp #33 Flat Eyeshadow Brush, add Metropolitan right below the eyeliner. Smudge right against the liner and blend effortlessly along, underneath lashes.

Emphasize top and bottom lashes with two coats of black mascara. The newest VL addition, Lush Length Mascara, hydrates and strengthens with Aragon and Jojoba oils for conditioned lashes that have added volume and length extension. The lightweight formula envelops lashes with an innovative texture that remains soft and pliable throughout the day.

For well-behaved brows, fill in any sparse areas and smooth down hairs with Bi Brow Powder and Pomade and a #11 Slanted Liner Brush. This split-pan compact combines sheer tinted pomade with brow-filling powder to help contour and shape eyebrows for a polished, feminine look.
